Densus 88 Nabs the Bomb Maker of the Makassar Church Suicide Bombing

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The National Police’s Special Anti-terror Detachment 88 (Densus 88) arrested a suspected terrorist who assembled the bomb for suicide bombing culprits at the Makassar Cathedral Church, South Sulawesi.

“On the initials W, we have secured the mastermind behind the bomb-making,” said National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo at his office, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night, March 31, 2021.

Sigit said that W was one of 13 people in Makassar who had been arrested by Densus 88. They were said to have links to the suicide bombing. However, he did not give details about the time and location of the arrest.

“The bomb incident in Makassar, as of today, March 31, we have secured 13 people,” said Sigit.

The husband and wife couple, L and YSF alias D, carried out a suicide bombing at the gate of the Cathedral Church on Jalan Kajaolalido, MH Thamrin, Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province, Sunday morning March 28, 2021. As a result of the explosion, 20 security personnel and church congregants injuries. They are currently undergoing treatment in a number of hospitals.

L and YSF alias D are known to be members of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) who are suspected of being involved in the bombing in Jolo, Southern Philippines in 2019.
