Densus 88 Nabs Four Suspected Terrorists in Lampung

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The National Police’s anti-terror special detachment Densus 88 nabbed Friday four suspected terrorists in Lampung with alleged ties to the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network.

“Densus 88 and the Lampung Regional Task Force have made arrests in several locations,” National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Ahmad Ramadan said on Friday, November 5, 2021.

The first suspect, S, 47, was arrested at his house in Karang Anyar village, South Lampung. He was suspected of joining physical training in Lampung and Java and helped hide several wanted terrorists and acted as the head of the Tholiah Department of Lampung’s JI.

The second suspect, F, 37, was arrested in North Metro, Metro municipality, Lampung. The private employee acted as an Iqthisod treasurer of JI and allegedly attended several JI events and provided assistance in hiding wanted terrorists.

The third suspect, AA, who was also apprehended in North Metro, was suspected of acting as JI’s Qo’id for its third region in Lampung and actively partaking in JI events and physical training sessions.

The third suspect, NA, a teacher of Islamic boarding school Pesantren Al Muksin Metro, was captured on Jl. Raya Pekalongan on Friday morning. He was suspected of being a JI treasurer and helped finance wanted terrorists who were on the run or facing legal process. He also allegedly attended multiple JI gatherings and physical training events.

Ramadan said upon the arrests Densus 88 searched the suspects’ houses and transferred them to the Lampung Provincial Police for initial questionings.
