Covid-19 Vaccinations Hampered by Distribution Issues

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia Covid-19 task force on Tuesday said that vaccine’s distribution has become the main challenge in succeeding the national Covid-19 vaccination. The government targets to administer 2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine daily.

Member of the Covid-19 task force, Fala Adinda, said they must pay attention to availability of proper storage spaces to keep the vaccines. She believes that accelerating the mass vaccination program is not merely about increasing the number of healthcare workers but also how to distribute the vaccines properly.

“Vaccinations in Indonesia range from polio, DPT, and more, which all must be stored like the Covid-19 vaccines. The distribution process and where the 2 million vaccines are stored should be considered,” she said in the Tempo focus group discussion on accelerating the vaccination program on July 13.

According to Adinda, the government and the Covid task force tried to find the solutions, one of them is by collecting supports, in the form of freezers, from factories and pharmaceutical factories.

“Problems such as these exist in the field. The 2 million number is a challenging one but we will meet the goal for the sake of mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic,” Adinda remarked.
