COVID-19 Task Force Set to Counter Conspiracy Theorists

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The head of the COVID-19 task force, Doni Monardo, on Monday acknowledged that many Indonesians continued to believe that the coronavirus pandemic in Indonesia is part of a larger conspiracy theory.

Doni assured that this reason alone continued to drive the government to constantly disseminate the actual dangers spread by the virus. He also expressed regret that many people still believed in the narrative although the COVID-19 had already killed over 3,500 people in Indonesia alone.

“Many people still consider the COVID-19 is a conspiracy and that it is engineered,” said Doni following a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace on Monday.

“This is real, and that is a fact. People undoubtedly need to understand this,” he asserted.

To resolve this issue regarding public disbelief, Doni said that the government would involve each and every component in society to help disseminate information on the depth of this pandemic.

He said the government’s COVID-19 task force would also involve public figures, anthropologists, population experts, up to sociologists to counter the narrative spread by conspiracy theorists.
