COVID-19 Active Cases and Deaths Slightly Drop, Task Force Says

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Head of the Indonesian COVID-19 handling task force, Doni Monardo, on Tuesday said there had been a considerable drop in the number of coronavirus active cases and deaths. He reported the active case is 23.6 percent of the total confirmed cases nationwide for the past week.

“The national active case is also below the global active case of 23.9 percent,” said Doni in a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) on September 22.

For the past four weeks, the percentage of active cases has fluctuated from 23.64 percent on August 30th and grew to 24.5 percent on September 6th before it dropped to 23.6 percent on September 20.

Doni Monardo explained that this positive news is due to the growing recovery rate from 71 percent to 71.5 percent on September 20, even though it is still below the global recovery rate of 73 percent. He also announced the mortality rate had relatively dropped for the past four weeks.

“We are able to suppress the number of deaths to 3.9 percent,” said the COVID-19 task force leader. This is an improvement as Indonesia once recorded a 9 percent Covid-19 mortality rate in the early weeks of the pandemic.
