Corruption Court Reveals Fact in Case Against Former KPK Investigator

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – A Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor on Monday said its former investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju, had received Rp3 billion from House (DPR) Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin and Golkar Party politician Aliza Gunado.

The reason behind the alleged bribe, according to the KPK prosecutor in the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) on September 13, is to entice the former KPK investigator to handle an alleged regional funding case incriminating the House Deputy and Golkar politician.

Moreover, the prosecutor said after receiving Azis’ request, Pattuju discussed it with Masku Husain in August 2020 and eventually agreed to handle the case involving the two men. Azis eventually agreed to pay the men Rp2 billion each.

The money was handed over in installments and in separate locations with one of it taking place at the former investigator’s work home.

KPK said Pattuju and Husain not only accepted the bribe from Azis and Aliza but are charged for also accepting bribe from 4 other individuals for the same gain, which is to help clear them off of graft cases handled by the agency.

Azis Syamsuddin did not respond to Tempo’s requests for an interview but stated in the court as a witness that one of the transfer money was a loan and that the former KPK investigator did not demand that from him.
