COP26; Jokowi Reasserts Indonesia’s Commitment About Climate Change

IDNEWSNOW.COM, JakartaPresident Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, is set to attend the United Nation Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow slated for November 1-2. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s position towards climate change will remain consistent.

“Indonesia’s position towards climate change is very consistent and we are working hard to meet the goal we have committed to,” said the President before departing to Soekarno-Hatta Airport on October 29. “We do not plan to dwell in rhetorics that will eventually not be obtained.”

Indonesia has a critical and strategic role in tackling the climate crisis as the country is home to vast tropical forests and mangroves in the world. He, therefore, insisted that the country will be part of the solution.

The COP26 will be led by the British Prime Minister Boris Jhonson and will be attended by 120 state and government leaders.

President Jokowi has departed to Glasgow for the COP26 from October 29 – November 4 and before that will attend the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy, on October 30-31. He will then depart to the United Arab Emirates for a bilateral business meeting.
