Bali Domestic Tourist Visits Slump 92 Percent in May

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Bali Central Statistics Agency (BPK) Head, Adi Nugroho, announced on Wednesday that the agency recorded a 92.45 percent drop in domestic tourist visits for May 2020 (88.99 percent) month-to-month growth. 

In comparison to the same month in 2019 for international tourism, Nugroho said that tourists from France and the Netherlands also saw a sharp decline as tourists from the aforementioned countries were 99.99 percent less compared to last year.

Tourists from Spain and South Africa also dropped compared to April last year. 

“There were 1,050,060 visits from international tourists to Dewata Island from January to May 2020,” said Adi Nugroho on July 1.

In terms of method of visits, international tourists visiting Bali were mostly dominated by air travel (94.44 percent) while those entering the island through port facilities amounted to 5.56 percent. Countries that contributed the most tourist visits are as follows:

Spain (52.78 percent); South Africa (25 percent); Indonesia (11.11 percent); France (2,78 percent); the Netherlands (2.78 percent); Bulgaria (2.78 percent); and Romania (2.78 percent).
