IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The police special detachment for anti-terrorism Densus 88 arrested 5 alleged terrorists in several areas in Aceh. Two were caught in Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 19: 45 local time. One was apprehended in Ulee Kareng, Banda Aceh on the next day, Jan. 21, and on the same day, the other two were arrested in Langsa.
“The arrests were done in four different locations,” said Aceh Police Chief of public relations, Sr. Comsr. Winardy in a written statement on Saturday, Jan. 23.
The five terrorists are RA (41 years old) from Langsa Kota, SA (30) from Banda Baro of North Aceh, UM alias AZ alias TA (35), SJ alias AF (40), and MY (46).
The police explained that the five people were allegedly involved in the network behind the Medan Police Office bombing and linked to the terrorist group in Riau. They allegedly planned to make a bomb that would be exploded in Aceh and planned to leave for Afghanistan to join ISIS.
Densus 88 seized 1 kg potassium nitrate powder, 250 gr active charcoal, one bottle of silver buckshot, and pieces of iron pipe. The authorities suspect that the materials would be used to make the bomb. Besides, the police confiscated several documents like a notebook that was written with threats for the police, central and Aceh governments, as well as passports.
