Anies Baswedan Says Jakarta COVID-19 Positivity Rate Is Alarming

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan considered the positivity rate of COVID-19 in the city that had gone above 10 percent was alarming. The regional COVID-19 mitigation task force reported this week’s positivity rate reached 12.5 percent.

“Our positivity rate is now above 10 percent, this is a very alarming rate,” Anies said in a virtual discussion on Friday, September 4, 2020.

Anies had previously mentioned that when the city’s positivity rate was at 3.5 percent, it meant three out of 100 people tested positive. Now, the rate soared above 10 percent.

The condition showed that virus transmission was still occurring in the community, said the former education and culture minister. He demanded the public maintain discipline in practicing the health protocols, especially wearing face masks.

He said that efforts to contain COVID-19 would not be optimized if the city administration’s continued testing, tracing, and treatments  were not coupled with public discipline.

Alhamdulillah Jakarta has carried out testing, tracing, and treatment well. Now we are pushing the public to wear face masks, maintain distance, and wash hands,” Anies Baswedan said.
