Anies Baswedan: No Signs of Returning to PSBB Restriction

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan on Tuesday said that there are no indications suggesting the city will return to imposing partial quarantine or large-scale social restriction (PSBB) after evaluating through 10-days of the transitional PSBB period.

“So far, no indicator has emerged for the past 10-days. This means that we can now say that there are no signs of us going back to PSBB based on the developments this past week,” said Anies in his visit to the Kota Kasablanka shopping center on Tuesday.

The main indicators are the epidemiology and public health aspects, which must not show negative trends that would introduce an emergency brake policy back to implementing the PSBB.

“However, I need to assert that the numbers coming in are delayed by one to two weeks. So, incidents happening two weeks prior will only be visible now. We need to wait 1-2 weeks to know about the incidents for the past week,” said the Jakarta governor.

The low reproduction rate of COVID-19 infections is one of the positive indicators, as it had scored 0.99 since Tuesday. “This means it is slowing down,” said Anies.

However, Anies Baswedan made it clear that this does not mean the government’s option to impose PSBB in the future is off the table if infection rates turn ugly. The capital city has undergone three PSBB phases since COVID-19 officially spread in Indonesia.
