Anies Baswedan Asked to Scrap Odd-Even Policy as Jakarta Wins 2021 STA

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Chairman of the PDIP Faction at Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD), Gembong Warsono, warned Governor Anies Baswedan of complacency as the capital city won the 2021 Sustainable Transport Award (STA). According to him, the city government still has a lot of homework in the development of transportation.

He opined that Anies has the main task of integrating all modes of mass transports. “This includes integrating KRL (Commuter Line) with Jakarta’s transportations,” said Gembong via a text to Tempo on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

The PDIP politician also suggested the city government immediately end the odd-even policy and replace it with the electronic road pricing or ERP policy in order to provide more options for citizens to commute. “We encourage the policy to be implemented soon instead of the odd-even traffic policy.”

Jakarta won the 2021 Sustainable Transport Award (STA) for its integrated public transportation programs. The announcement was made at the international transportation conference MOBILIZE 2020 which was held virtually on October 26, 28, and 30, 2020.

The award made Jakarta the first city in Southeast Asia to win the STA award defeating major world cities, such as Auckland, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Charlotte, Frankfurt, Moscow, San Francisco, and Sao Paulo. Last year, Jakarta was ranked second or awarded an ‘Honorable Mention’.

Responding to the award, Anies Baswedan said on Saturday, October 31, that his side was committed to providing a sustainable transportation system for the public convenience.
