Akidi Tio’s Donation; Police to Examine South Sumatra Police Chief

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen. Eko Indra Heri would be questioned regarding the donation worth Rp2 trillion by the family of late entrepreneur Akidi Tio.

The National Police Head of the Public Relations Division, Insp. Gen. Argo Yuwono, said his side had established an internal team consisting of the general supervision inspectorate, internal security division, and the special professional and security division.

“We want to know the clarity of the case, and that is for internal clarification,” said Argo in a written statement on Wednesday, August 4.

Argo asked the public to wait for the completion of the internal inspection. He promised to disclose the result to the public. “Let’s wait for the results of the internal investigation and inspection,” he added.

Issues about fictitious donations arose after the Akidi Tio’s family handed over a generous donation totaling Rp2 trillion for the Covid-19 relief in the province. The symbolic handover was even attended by South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru and Regional Police Chief Insp. Ge. Eko Heri. However, it was later discovered that the money never came into the police’s bank account.
