IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The South Sumatra Police examined Heriyati, one of Akidi Tio’s children, a local entrepreneur who donated Rp2 trillion for the COVID-19 relief.

The Director of Intelligence and Security Department of the South Sumatra Police, Sr. Comr. Ratno Kuncoro, said the investigation began after the police checked into a Bank Mandiri account. “There was absolutely no amount of money that was donated,” said Ratno today, August 2, 2021.

He said the police were still investigating the motive behind the plan of the businessman’s family to grant funds for the pandemic relief. According to Ratno, since Akidi’s family said they would hand out the grant, the South Sumatra Police had formed a special team to oversee the fund disbursement. The symbolic handover of the donation was also attended by the South Sumatra Governor and the South Sumatra Police Chief.

At present, the Akidi Tio family’s doctor, Hardi Darmawan, was also being grilled at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters. Ratno said the police did not want this issue to cause any polemics and slanders. “We will investigate this thoroughly,” he said.
