IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The government has prepared hospitals and its supporting facilities in anticipation of Omicron variant of Covid-19.
On December 27, during an online conference, the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that they have prepared all the necessities such as beds and medicines, that also includes 16,000 oxygen generators and 31 oxygen concentrator.
Despite all of the above, he expects people to uphold health protocols to prevent massive Omicron spread.
Budi then adds that the importance to accelerate vaccinations, especially for elderly and people with low immune is necessary to protect them from Omicron.
To achieve that, 15 new genome sequencing machine will be brought in and handed to all islands in Indonesia to speed up the tests and networking.
According to the minister, 98% of Omicron was brought in by people from overseas trip and for that he will tighten the entry quarantine from outside of Indonesia to prevent another cases.
“If people were to ask, of course it’s difficult, but only for those who can afford an overseas trip,” said him.
The tightening of quarantine, said Budi, is necessary to protect 270 million people who is already in a good condition. Therefore, he asks people to understand the quarantine process and will tighten the entry for Indonesian from overseas.
