Tegal deputy speaker hosts crowded dangdut concert, flouting virus procedures

Tegal Legislative Council (DPRD) deputy speaker Wasmad Edi Susilo held a dangdut show in the Central Java city on Wednesday that drew in a huge crowd in violation of COVID-19 protocols.

The performance, held in South Tegal Field, was supposedly to celebrate a marital relationship and a circumcision in Wasmad’s household. Before the performance happened, a pamphlet promoting the occasion went viral on social media.

Thousands of people gathered in front of a phase geared up with a large stereo and cinemas, kompas.com reported. Audience members did not preserve their range, and numerous were not using masks.

South Tegal Cops head Comr. Joeharno stated the organizers had actually obtained a permit but had stated the occasion would have a restricted variety of visitors.

After finding out that the occasion had actually attracted a huge crowd, the cops revoked the permit.

” This suggests that their action protested the law because they did not adhere to the initial authorization proposed,” Joeharno said, including that they had agreed not to have the cops or military guard the occasion.

However the police did not disband the occasion.

” We could not get close to the website considering we did not have sufficient personnel. We felt it would be dishonest to go on phase to forcibly stop them,” he stated.

Tegal Cops Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Rita Wulandari Wibowo stated the cops were summoning the organizers for questioning. She said the cops would not provide licenses for comparable activities in the future.

Central Java Guv Ganjar Pranowo said he had called Tegal Mayor Dedi Yon Supriyono to reprimand him for holding the occasion. Dedi had asked forgiveness, he said.

” We need sensitivity from leaders. [Events] like that are being limited, not totally prohibited. Let’s adapt. If we disregard [regulations], individuals will act irresponsibly,” Ganjar said.

Ganjar stated he regretted that a DPRD executive had held such an event which Wasmad had actually set a poor example for members of the community. (syk)
