UN endorsed 5 Indonesia-initiated resolutions in 2 years: Marsudi

At the effort of Indonesia, five resolutions were embraced, both at the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly.

Jakarta – The United Nations endorsed five Indonesia-initiated resolutions at multilateral online forums in the past 2 years, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi stated.

” At the effort of Indonesia, 5 resolutions were adopted, both at the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly,” she stated during a press briefing here on Wednesday.

One of the resolutions was UNSC resolution number 2538 worrying Females in Peacekeeping Operations.

Four other resolutions were embraced at the UN General Assembly– ‘International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Advancement 2021’, ‘International Solidarity to Fight COVID-19’, ‘International Cooperation to Address Obstacles Dealt With by Seafarers as a result of COVID-19 Pandemic to Support International Supply Chains’, and ‘Global Health and Diplomacy: Conditioning Health System Resilience through Affordable Health Care for All’.

” The adoption of these resolutions functions as the closing contribution to the Indonesian

chairmanship of the Diplomacy and Global Health Effort for the year 2020,” Marsudi stated referring to the UN General Assembly resolution on ‘Global Health and Diplomacy: Conditioning Health System Resilience through Affordable Health Care for All’.

The resolution, the last Indonesia-initiated resolution to be adopted by the UN, motivated UN member states to reinforce national health systems through economical health care for all and enhance health durability as an integral part of watchfulness for a state of emergency.

In addition, member states were asked to create constructive partnerships with appropriate stakeholders to make sure access to universal health coverage, acknowledge medical workers throughout the pandemic, and support the financing for access to the COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT accelerator).

A sustainable and innovative health funding policy was likewise amongst the problems mentioned in the resolutions.( The five resolutions) are other than those serving as extended required or those resulting from conversations led by Indonesia on behalf of the Non-Aligned Motion or G77,” the minister said.
