Over 4 million people enter, leave Jakarta throughout homecoming restriction

Jakarta – Over 2 million individuals left Jakarta and nearly as many visitors went into the city during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming ban from May 6 to May 15, 2021, Jakarta Vice Guv Ahmad Riza Patria stated.

As per official data, 2,607,688 individuals left Jakarta using personal vehicles while 55 others used inter-provincial buses throughout the homecoming restriction period.

2,244,096 individuals traveled to Jakarta by personal cars and 174 others utilized inter-provincial buses.

The data also reveals 1,730,463 lorries left Jakarta, while 1,513,267 cars entered the Indonesian capital throughout the period.

The COVID-19 Dealing with Task Force released Circular Number 13 of 2021 on the ‘mudik’ restriction to stem coronavirus transmission throughout the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The restriction omitted logistics circulation service lorries and people who needed to take a trip for non-mudik functions, specifically for work or company, to go to sick member of the family, or go to funeral services of family members.
