Ministry’s group entrusted with taking on NTT’s sea contamination and damage

Jakarta – The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) federal government, and the United Nations Advancement Program (UNDP), concurred on establishing a team for combating marine contamination and damage in the province’s waters.

” This is good synergy and commitment amongst the main government, the regional federal government, and the worldwide non-government organization (NGO) in accelerating the handling of pollution in NTT,” acting Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Guidance, Antam Novambar, noted in a news release here on Saturday.

Antam exposed that the three agencies had actually settled on forming the team at a conference on June 23.

Development of the team belongs to the execution of the Arafura and Timor Seas Community Technique Stage II (ATSEA-2) Program.

The federal government has, in reality, mulled over the formation of the team given that June 2020.

Antam kept in mind that a series of technical meetings, facilitated by UNDP, were organized by involving firms of the main and local governments, consisting of the coordinating ministry for maritime affairs and investment, environmental affairs and forestry ministry (KLHK), Ministry of Transportation, and NTT authorities.

The group will begin working by drafting an Action Prepare for Pollution Control and Guidance.

” We will begin by making preparations for the Action Strategy. This will be the first pilot job for the area that has a pollution control plan,” the ministry’s primary expert described.

The KKP ministry’s Director of Supervision for the Management of Marine Resources, Halid K. Jusuf, emphasized that the regional federal government must prepare an instrument for managing marine pollution.

” Regional regulations are required to reinforce pollution control and guidance,” Jusuf affirmed.
