Ministry launches 3,000 clownfish seeds throughout Sail Tidore 2022

Jakarta – The Directorate General of Aquaculture of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Ministry has actually launched three thousand clownfish seeds into Tidore waters, North Maluku province, to support the implementation of Sail Tidore 2022.

Also referred to as fish stocking, the activity was an example of the execution of blue economy to understand the sustainable utilization of marine and fishery resources, director general of aquaculture, Tb Haeru Rahayu, stated in a statement launched on Saturday.

The release of the fish seeds was targeted at avoiding the termination of the types in Indonesian waters, he added.

” Clownfish is a commodity which remains in terrific need by decorative fish enthusiasts. For this reason, to maintain its sustainability, it is essential to be secured, one of which is by equipping it,” the director general discussed.

He said that the clownfish seeds were obtained from one of the directorate general’s technical application systems (UPT), namely the Ambon Marine Aquaculture Fisheries Center (BPBL), which has prospered in cultivating 50 variants of clownfish.

The clownfish seeds were chosen to be released into the Tidore waters since they are amongst the habitats of the reef fish.

” The stocking activity has been routinely performed by the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry in numerous public waters throughout Indonesia,” Rahayu stated.

The activity aimed to preserve Indonesia’s aquatic environments, maintain the health of the aquatic environment, too manage the sustainability of the fishery sector, he added.

Currently, the ministry’s UPTs have successfully mastered the growing of various products, consisting of numerous types of fish native to Indonesia in addition to marine decorative fish with high economic worth.

” The success of this mass fish farming is a crucial advancement to maintain fishery resources in Indonesia. We constantly keep protecting the sea, hence it stays healthy, while maintaining the balance of environmental, financial, and social aspects,” the director general included.

Cruise Tidore 2022 is being executed from November 24–29, 2022.
