Minister imagines 3 scenarios if COVID-19 lengthens till 2021

Medan, North Sumatra – Indonesia’s Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian divulged details on the country’s three circumstances in handling COVID-19 if the pandemic were to lengthen up until 2021.

” I imagine 3 scenarios if this pandemic continues up until 2021,” he remarked throughout a meeting with spiritual and neighborhood leaders of North Sumatra here on the night of Thursday (July 2).

The first situation is to develop a vaccine. Once the vaccine for the illness is available, two-thirds of the population must be inoculated. Two vaccine ampoules will be needed in the process, with the very first being the initial vaccine while the second, a booster.

Mass production and distribution will commence once the vaccine is developed, he stated.

” It needs to first be distributed to areas where the vaccination will be carried out. It suggests that the process would take some time. Some parties even anticipate that if it (the vaccine) is available in mid-2021, the vaccination might be finished in 2022,” he pointed out.

The second situation is finding a golden medication, or remedy, for COVID-19, while the third circumstance is herd resistance. However, he is positive that the 3rd situation would not be needed.

” The 3rd circumstance is to let people become infected. This is certainly a situation that we do not anticipate,” he explained.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, North Sumatra Guv Edy Rahmayadi, and North Sumatra Deputy Governor Musa Rajekshah were among those present at the meeting.
