Jokowi highlights lingering issue of low precision in federal government data

Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) determined that the accuracy of government information remained significantly low, while pressing for enhancements and database synchronization to attend to the matter.

” Data accuracy continues to be a concern up until today. The effect is everywhere. For example, there are errors and overlaps in the social help data that are causing hold-ups in the circulation, and some were not in accordance with the target. The very same goes for the circulation of other federal government help,” President Jokowi remarked at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Thursday.

The president made the statement while opening the 2021 nationwide coordination conference for internal government monitoring in which Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Coordinating Minister for Economics Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretariat Pratikno, and Chief of Development and Finance Controller (BPKP) M. Yusuf Ateh got involved together with 2,223 other meeting’s participants.

President Jokowi advised the BPKP to follow the database synchronization between programs to increase information reliability.

” Use the forensic and analytic information laboratories that are offered,” he mentioned.

Jokowi likewise drew attention to the importance of dedication and prudent management to guarantee the effectiveness of internal control.

” All recommendations need to be followed up. Do not let it end up being mere recommendations. Take on the root causes of the problems to guarantee that they do not recur in future,” he explained.

Jokowi thinks mistakes were repeated through the years over non-compliance to suggestions from the BPKP and the federal government internal supervisory apparatuses (APIP).

” I would like to stress to the ministers, head of companies, and regional heads to seriously follow the recommendations from the BPKP and APIP. Do not allow (problems) to extend for too wish for they will just grow bigger and can become legal concerns,” he cautioned.

The federal government’s internal supervisory apparatuses (APIP) was formed under Government Guideline number 60 in 2008 on the Government Internal Control System.

APIP is an organizational unit at the levels of the central government, regional federal government, ministries, and other institutions entrusted with control duties incorporating audit, revisions, assessments, security, and other control steps on the function and tasks of companies.
