Jakarta governor conveys carbon emission cut proposition at UN conference

Jakarta – Guv of Jakarta Anies Baswedan has actually put forth a proposition to minimize carbon emissions as concrete action of C40 major cities to resolve climate change.

Attending to the dialog in between C40 mayors and UN Secretary General on advancing carbon neutrality and resistant healing for cities and countries held essentially on Friday night, Anies created two proposals to assist the UN in executing a carbon emission reduction program and mitigating the effect of climate modification.

” First, the UN can drive countries to recognize the achievement of environment action made at a city level and it (the achievement) should be reckoned as part of Nationally Identified Contribution (NDC) to environment action,” he said in a composed declaration launched on Saturday.

Anies thought the UN might help to motivate the horizontal and vertical integration of actions and policies.

Ahead of the 26 th UN Climate Modification Conference of the Parties ( POLICE26) to be kept in Glasgow on November 1-12, he attracted the UN to support countries in establishing detailed architecture and financing structure to elaborate the benefits achieved by the central government at international forum to be carried out at local level.

He said city governments played a role in making sure that the environment inhabited by their citizens is decent and resilient.

” Local government are tasked with providing decent houses for city residents by, among others, mitigating the effect of climate modification and decreasing carbon emissions produced by their cities,” he stated.

Jakarta has taken various climate actions and has set itself the target of attaining no emission by 2050, he stated.

” Jakarta is dedicated to becoming a climate durability city. Jakarta has transformed from car-based advancement to (mass quick) transit-based development,” he said.

UN Secretary General Antonio Gutteres accepted the proposal and pledged to follow it up.
