Indonesia sends out 15 weightlifters for IWF World Championships in Riyadh

Jakarta – The Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) on Friday sent out 15 weightlifters to compete in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The world champion, to be hung on September 4-17, is among the necessary certifying events for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

” I hope Indonesia’s weightlifting group will have the ability to certify as lots of athletes to the 2024 Olympics,” stated Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, General Chairperson of the Executive Board of PABSI, in a declaration.

He noted that PABSI has accomplished its previous targets, that included bagging gold in the Asian Games, and its existing target is taking gold medals at the Olympics.

7 male weightlifters and 8 female Indonesian weightlifters will complete in the IWF World Championships.

The seven male professional athletes are:

  • Satrio Adi Nugroho (55 kg class)
  • Rahmat Erwin Abdullah (73 kg class)
  • Rizki Juniansyah (73 kg class)
  • Eko Yuli Irawan (61 kg class)
  • Ricko Saputra (61 kg class)
  • Mohammad Yasin (67 kg class)
  • Muhamad Zul Ilmi (89 kg class)

The 8 female athletes are:

  • Siti Nafisatul Hariroh (45 kg class)
  • Juliana Klarisa (55 kg class)
  • Windy Cantika Aisah (56 kg class)
  • Natasya Beteyob (59 kg class)
  • Sarah (59 kg class)
  • Tsabitha Alfiah Ramadani (71 kg class)
  • Restu Anggi (71 kg class)
  • Nurul Akmal ( 87 kg class)

Eko Yuli Irawan, who formerly won a silver medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, stated that he will strive to preserve his existing world number two position.

” Since this is a mandatory event, we should stay on track to keep our position to qualify for the Olympics, even though we don’t have to be world champions because we will likewise deal with the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, this September,” he included.
