Hundreds of employees object mobility restrictions on Cikampek tollroad

Cikarang, Bekasi – Hundreds of employees released a protest after they were not enabled to go through a checkpoint at kilometer 31 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Thursday due to the ban on homecoming exodus, or mudik.

The objecting workers, who claimed they were headed to Jakarta for work, also taped a 30- second video, which went viral on social media.

In the video, the workers might be seen leaving the shuttle bus they were traveling in, dressed in uniforms and yelling that they were workers headed for work, and not participating in the homecoming exodus, and demanding passage through the gate.

” We are workers, we are going for working. This is Cikarang,” a voice can be heard screaming in the video.

Jakarta Authorities traffic director senior commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo validated the occurrence, saying the employees objected after they were not permitted to go through the West Cikarang toll gate.

” The employees objected when their bus might not pass the West Cikarang toll gate from Cikampek,” Yogo stated.
