Freeport gatekeeper deals with trial for armed group participation

The offender Ivan Sambon will stand virtual trial.

Timika, Papua – The North Jakarta District Court scheduled the very first trial of PT Freeport Indonesia security officer Ivan Sambom, alias Indius Sambom, who is accused of participation in an armed criminal group in Papua on October27
According to the Supreme Court’s latest decision, the trial will occur at the North Jakarta District Court, Chief of the Timika Public District attorney’s Workplace Mohammad Ridosan stated here on Saturday.

To this end, Chief of the General Crime Area of the Timika Public Prosecutor’s Office Roy Andhika Sembiring just recently left for Jakarta to hand over the files of the defendant, he confirmed.

Ivan Sambom is held in custody at the battalion B of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Station of the Papua Provincial Cops in Timika.

” The offender Ivan Sambon will stand a virtual trial. We have looked for authorization from the Papua Public Prosecutor’s Workplace to execute the Supreme Court’s choice to eliminate the trial place,” he noted.

Sembiring will remain in Jakarta for a quick amount of time to coordinate with the North Jakarta District Court, he stated.

Ivan Sambom is accused of having, keeping, or hiding firearms or ammunition and/or dedicating criminal activities versus state security (disobedience) and/or devoting criminal offenses versus human lives (murder) as stated in post 1, paragraph (1) of Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 and/or post 106 of the Penal Code jo. post 55 of the Penal Code and/or post 338 of the Penal Code jo Short article 53 of the Penal Code.
