Fire guts 7 shop-cum-houses in West Kalimantan’s Singkawang

I only found a shop-cum-house owner securing his motorbike because it was drizzling when the fire happened

Pontianak, W Kalimantan – Seven shop-cum-houses in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan Province, ignited in the wee hours of Friday.

An eyewitness, Wahyu, who works as a guard of the state-owned loan provider Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) branch, located opposite to the shop-cum-houses, believed the fire originated from an internet cafe, Cyber X.

Wahyu mentioned having actually seen a column of thick smoke billowing from the shop-cum-house.

The eyewitness stated he did not see other individuals at the scene when the fire broke out at about 3 a.m. local time.

” I only discovered a shop-cum-house owner securing his motorcycle since it was raining when the fire occurred,” he stated.

Fire engine reached the scene a couple of minutes after he requested a bank client, who was withdrawing money from the ATM at the time, to call the regional fire department.

No casualties and injuries were reported.

The police is still examining the reason for the fire.
