DPR’s Commission I approves bill on defense cooperation with Sweden

Jakarta – Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) approved a Bill on Ratification of the Agreement on Defense Cooperation between the Federal Governments of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Sweden.

The costs will be given a plenary conference of the DPR to be entered law, Deputy Chairman of Commission I Abdul Kharis Almasyari stated throughout a hearing here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto verified that approval of the Indonesian Parliament’s Commission I mirrored a spirit of togetherness.

Furthermore, Commission I realized the urgency of drafting a bill on Indonesia’s defense cooperation with the Federal government of Sweden.

Prior to the decision being taken, each political party’s faction in the Commission I voiced its opinion on the costs after hearing Subianto’s explanation.

The defense cooperation between Indonesia and Sweden requires seven points, with the first being the exchange of info and experiences on concerns of typical interests referring to political, military, and international maritime security issues.

” Second, it also consists of the exchange of details and best practices in addition to advancing cooperation in between the 2 countries’ agencies in the field of clinical research and development and other associated institutions,” he stated.

The third point is cooperation and the exchange of understanding related to logistical support and maintenance on the basis of mutual advantage and contract from the parties.

The fourth point incorporates technology transfer, joint research study, joint production, joint marketing, and quality control.

The fifth point relate to boosting basic training at all levels, including civilian personnel in the Ministry of Defense.

The sixth point focuses on cooperation in military, medical, and health activities, while the seventh concerns other cooperation that were equally concurred upon.
