Colombia, Cuba, South Africa join ASEAN’s Treaty of Amity, Cooperation

Jakarta – The signing ceremony of the instruments of accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) by Colombia, Cuba, and South Africa was held online on Tuesday (Nov 10).

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and other ASEAN foreign ministers experienced the signing ceremony, according to a statement released on the main website of the ASEAN Viet Nam 2020.

In his remarks, Minh mentioned that growth of the treaty mirrored ASEAN’s position and function in boosting cooperation and in promoting peace and security in the area and the world.

The TAC was signed in Bali, Indonesia, in February 1976, with 40 signatories so far.
