BMKG records 27 earthquakes in Aceh-North Sumatra on December 17-23

Medan – The Earthquake Center of the Meteorology, Meteorology, and Geophysics Company (BMKG) -Medan Office has taped 27 earthquakes that happened in the Indonesian provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra in the fourth week of December 2021.

” Towards Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022, the BMKG tape-recorded 27 earthquakes in North Sumatra and Aceh between December 17 and December 23,” the firm’s researcher, Marzuki Sinambela, stated in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra Province, on Sunday.

The seismic activities in Aceh and North Sumatra in the fourth week of December 2021 happened in the Megathrust Zone and a few of them were topped numerous locations of the Sumatran Fault section.
