Jakarta – A 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit Seluma district of Bengkulu province on Saturday night, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Firm (BMKG).
The quake, which struck at 8.09 p.m. local time, was focused 41 kilometers southwest of Seluma at a depth of 26 kilometers, the company reported.
The trembling was felt at magnitude II on the Customized Mercalli Strength (MMI) scale in Liwa, Enggano, Mukomuko; at MMI III in Central Bengkulu, Bengkulu City, Argamakmur, and Kepahiang; and, at MMI IV in Manna.

Bengkulu is amongst the Indonesian provinces vulnerable to earthquakes.
On June 27, 2021, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Mukomuko district of Bengkulu province, though no damages or casualties were reported in the quake.
The center of the quake lay 50 kilometers southwest of Mukomuko at a depth of 22 kilometers, according to the BMKG. (INE)
