202 migrant workers deported from Malaysia get to Kualanamu Airport

The hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers hail from North Sumatra and Aceh Provinces

Medan, N Sumatra – Almost 202 prohibited Indonesian migrant employees deported from Malaysia arrived at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, on Saturday.

The deported migrant employees were flown from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Kualanamu Airport by Air Asia AK-395 flight, Kualanamu Airport’s. acting branch manager of interaction and legal affairs Fajri Ramdhani stated.

He stated the deportees consisted of 155 men, 43 ladies and three children under five.

The migrant workers were flown back in three groups. The first group of 150 individuals were flown to Surabaya on an AirAsia AK7356 flight, the 2nd batch of 150 people left for Jakarta on AirAsia’s AK0388 airplane and the 3rd batch of 200 individuals took the Medan-bound AirAsia AK0395 flight.

The migrant employees were deported to Indonesia after serving out their jail terms at the Pekan Nenas Depo (immigration detention house) in the Malaysian state of Johor Bahru and the Langkap Depo in the Malaysian state of Perak.

” The 500 deported migrant workers are among 4,774 migrant employees (lodged at depos). So, we still have a great deal of things to do since the variety of those at depos will likely increase and lots of Indonesian citizens will serve out their prison terms. Generally, they (unlawful migrants) will be sent to depos as part of preparations for deportation,” planner for consular functions at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Rijal Al Huda, said last month.
