Officers from the Riau Natural Deposit Preservation Center (BBKSDA) installed a trap on Tuesday to record and move 2 sun bears that were seen roaming around Kampung Sengkemang in Siak, Riau.
” Our team set up a trap on the path where bear sightings have prevailed. We were assisted by public order officers, community leaders and the people of Kampung Sengkemang,” BBKSDA Riau spokesperson Dian Indirati stated, as priced estimate by kompas.co.
Dian explained that the bears, a mother and cub, had been strolling throughout the settlement for the previous couple of days. The set consumed seven chickens that came from the villagers, triggering a stir in the community. The bears can assaulting humans when they feel threatened.
” We prompt the general public to remain calm, remain mindful and contact officers instantly if they see the animals inside the trap or if they appear in other places,” Dian stated.
Riau Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Conservation and Resources System head Heru Sutmantoro stated he got a report about a conflict in between people and bears on Sunday.
” We received a report that there were 2 bears that had actually gone into the Kampung Sengkemang settlement in Siak regency,” Heru stated. ( dpk)
