Indonesia Reasonably Unsafe in Pandemic: Report

Jakarta. Indonesia has been categorized as a hazardous country in a recent report that studied Covid-19 reactions in 200 countries and areas in regards to government reactions, including quarantine effectiveness and emergency situation preparedness.

The Deep Knowledge Group’s report, entitled ” Covid-19 Regional Safety Evaluation,” examines and ranks the countries’ financial, social and health stability.

The report categorizes 200 nations and areas into four tiers, from most safe to many hazardous.

Twenty countries inhabit the very first and second tiers, 60 nations the third and 100 nations the 4th.

Indonesia is put squarely in the 3rd tier. According to the report, nations in this tier are anomalies that should have ranked higher in security, but for some reason did not.

“[The third tier] shows that a person of the most crucial factors impacting local security and stability is not the basic level of healthcare sophistication, but the specific governmental strategies utilized to fight pandemics,” the report stated.

In the Asia Pacific, Indonesia is ranked 18 out of 36, even worse than Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, Japan and China top the list as the best countries in the area.

Globally, Indonesia sits in 97 th position out of 200, with a moderate security rating of 450

Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Singapore and Japan top the international list with ratings of over 730, followed by Austria, China, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.

According to the report, the high safety ratings in Singapore and China are due to a high degree of emergency situation preparedness and enormous capability to set in motion resources required to counter the pandemic.

The most hazardous nations in the list are South Sudan, Rwanda, Mali, Chad and Afghanistan.

Each country is scored on its quarantine efficiency, government’s threat management, tracking and detection performance, health preparedness, local resilience and emergency situation readiness.

Out of 100 countries ranked for its quarantine efficiency, Indonesia is in 82 nd place. The leading countries are New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, Denmark and Hong Kong.

On federal government response efficiency, Indonesia remains in 80 th place with a score of 108, night and day compared to top-scoring countries Germany (194), Israel (191), Austria (188), Switzerland (188) and Japan (184).

On tracking and identifying Covid-19, Indonesia is in 73 rd place.

In healthcare preparedness for Covid-19, Indonesia is 92 nd.

In regional resiliency, Indonesia is in 95 th place and 93 rd in emergency readiness.
