Djoko Tjandra confesses to paying off 2 cops generals

Graft found guilty Djoko Soegiarto Tjandra has confessed to giving cash to Brig. Gen. Prasetyo Utomo and Insp. Gen. Napoleon Bonaparte for allowing him to take a trip to and within the country when he was a fugitive, the National Cops have said.

National Authorities spokesman Brig. Gen. Awi Setiyono stated Djoko made the confession during an interrogation on Monday.

“[Djoko] has admitted providing a particular quantity of cash to the suspects,” Awi stated on Monday as priced quote by tempo.co

Awi, however, declined to disclose any other details as the examination is ongoing.

“[We] taken a look at when, where and to whom this cash had been given. We can not convey all investigation results, specifically relating to the quantity, due to the fact that the [investigation] is still in progress,” Awi said.

Previously this month, the National Authorities named both Prasetyo and Napoleon thinks for supposedly accepting kickbacks in return for assisting Djoko.

Napoleon was formerly eliminated from his post as the National Police’s head of global relations for his alleged involvement in removing Djoko’s red notification status, allowing the graft convict to freely enter the nation in spite of being on the most-wanted list considering that 2009.

National Police chief Gen. Idham Azis had also eliminated Brig. Gen. Nugroho Wibowo from his position as the National Central Bureau (NCB) – Interpol Indonesia secretary in relation to the red notification status removal for Djoko Tjandra. Nugroho, however, has not been named a suspect in the case.

On The Other Hand, Prasetyo, who had worked as head of the Civil Servant Detective Supervisory and Coordination Bureau, was implicated of releasing a letter that permitted Djoko to travel within the country while he was still on the run.

After being at big for 11 years, Djoko– a graft found guilty of the high-profile Bank Bali corruption case in 1998– was jailed in Malaysia on July30 He left the country after being sentenced to 2 years’ jail time in 2009 and was bought to return Rp 546 billion (US$54 million) to the state by the Supreme Court.

Previously, Djoko’s legal representative Anita Kolopaking and a district attorney, Pinangki Sirna Malasari, were named suspects for their declared involvement in helping Djoko while he was on the run. (syk)
