National COVID-19 task force primary Doni Monardo says diabetes mellitus has been the most typical comorbidity in COVID-19 deaths in Indonesia.
” Based on information in the past 6 months, some regions have comorbidity levels of as much as 92 percent, with diabetes as the primary factor,” he stated throughout a public conversation on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
He included that the province with the highest variety of COVID-19 patients with diabetes was East Java.
Meanwhile, the second-most typical comorbid illness for COVID-19 clients was high blood pressure, followed by cardiovascular disease, lung and breathing condition, kidney condition, asthma and cancer.
” COVID-19 is really lethal to the high-risk group [elderly and patients with pre-existing conditions],” he stated.
For that reason, Doni stated, the federal government’s first strategy was prioritizing the defense of these susceptible groups. The second method is to decrease the variety of confirmed COVID-19 cases along with deaths and increase the recovery rate, while the third method is to increase screening and optimize contact tracing.
