Yogyakarta Reopens 10 Tourist Areas in July

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Yogyakarta‘s Tourism Department chief Singgih Raharjo said that by July 1, 2020, 10 tourism destinations will be reopened. The tourist attractions are located in three regencies; Gunungkidul, Sleman, and Bantul.

In Guningkidul, the objects of tourism that weill be open for public again are Nglanggeran Purba Volcano, Baron Beach, Kukup Beach, and Kalisuci. In Bantul there are Becici Summit, Pinus Pengger, Seribu Batu, Pinus Sari and Parangtritis Beach. While in Sleman there is Breksi Cliff.

“Prior to reopening, we will run simulations and trials for visitors in those areas from June 24-26. The number of visitors is restricted to 50 percent of normal capacity,” SInggih said on Tuesday, June 23.  

Simulations on health protocols have also been carried out by each manager in the 10 destinations this month.

“In principles, we are reopening destinations that are ready. If they are not ready, we wont let them reopen, as it would only result in public distrust,” he said. 

Singgih said his department is also monitoring the simulation of new normal in dozens of hotels and restaurants. “For the hotel and restaurant industry, there needs to be some improvements,” he said.
