Task Force Clarifies Delay and Duplication of Covid-19 Data in Central Java

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Wiku Adisasmito, spokesman for the national Covid-19 mitigation task force, confirmed there were a delay and duplication of data which caused differences in the number of daily cases issued by the central and regional government, especially Central Java.

“Yes, that is right,” Wiku admitted to Tempo on Monday, Nov. 30. He added that an interoperability data system is indeed vital for the country’s coronavirus data in the future, and so it was being developed and applied by the task force.

On November 29, the task force reported that Central Java had 2,036 new cases. While on the same day, the province announced 844 fresh cases.

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the gap of 1,192 cases was the delay in verified data during the examination several weeks or months ago.

In addition to the delay, there was also duplicated data of Covid-19 reported by the central government. According to Ganjar, the delay in data and the duplication occurred because the central government collected the data manually.

The province, Ganjar Pranowo added, compiled the number of new patients based on hospital reports, while the central government logged it based on the laboratory reports.
