Palace Responds to Minister Airlangga Hartarto’s Covid-19 Secret

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Presidential Palace responded to various public criticisms regarding Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto who kept his positive Covid-19 result a secret.

Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko, said such news did not need to be publicly announced since the cabinet members have already acknowledged their tasks and with whom they communicated every day.

Besides, the ministers had never entered public areas due to social restrictions during the pandemic, he opined.

“So if a minister has Covid-19, only a few people who need to know it. After that, health measures are taken including the tracing,” said Moeldoko at his office today, Jan. 20.

He further argued that the case would be different for someone who was in the middle of a large crowd. Thus, the person’s positive Covid-19 result must be declared to the public.

Moeldoko stopped short of mentioning the name in question. However, it was clear that some people compared Airlangga Hartarto to Rizieq Shihab. The FPI leader hid his positive Covid-19 diagnosis and was facing a criminal sanction.
