Jokowi Targets 182 mn Indonesians Get Covid-19 Vaccine This Year

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi calculated that 182 milion Indonesians can get Covid-19 shots in 2021, under the requirement that the inoculation must be executed with maximum effort.

“Our target is [the vaccination to] 182 million people must complete by the end of this year,” he said during Online Imlek celebration from Bogor Palace, West Java, SAturday, Feb. 20.

Based on his calculation, Indonesia has 30,000 vaccinators, and added with 9,000 vaccinators from the police/military (TNI).

“That means that we have 39,000 vaccinators. If one vaccinator is able to inject 30 people [with Covid vaccine], so we must be able to vaccinate about 1.2 people,” Jokowi said.

However, the biggest problem is the Covid-19 vaccine supply. Currently, the available shots are still not enough. So far, 3 million doses Covid vaccine have been injected to healthcare workers as one of the priorities to receive the inoculation.

Recently, 7 million vaccines have been distributed to inject public service workers, starting from teachers, elderlies, until market traders and people work in the economic centers.

“We’ve started at Tanah Abang market yesterday,” the president said.

He reminded that 215 countries are reaching out to get Covid-19 vaccine supply. Jokowi promised the Indonesian government will continue the attempt to get the vaccine supply in every month.
