Indonesia Detects 9,687 New Covid-19 Cases on Feb. 17

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Covid-19 Task Force reported via its latest data today, February 17, that there were 9,687 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours. Indonesia’s total tally of Covid-19 cases now reached 1,243,646.

West Java Province recorded the largest surge in daily infections with 4,124 cases, followed by Jakarta with 1,445 cases. Other regions including Central Java and East Java, meanwhile, managed to suppress the trend to below a thousand.

However, West Java contributed the highest number of recoveries at 2,703, higher than Jakarta with 2,099. The country’s number of recoveries increased by 8,002, taking the total number of patients recovering from the coronavirus to 1,047,676.

West Java also managed to curb the death rate caused by the disease to only three cases. The figure is much lower than the data reported by Jakarta (47), Central Java (43), and East Java (34).

Today’s Covid-19 death toll rose by 192 cases, so in total Indonesia has recorded 33,788 fatalities since the first positive case detected on March 2, 2020.
