Indonesia COVID-19 Figures Rise by 5,489; East Java Reports Highest Death Toll

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia’s number of COVID-19 cases increased by 5,489 on Monday, Dec. 14, pushing the total tally to 623,309.

The national coronavirus mitigation task force also reported 137 more deaths today. The current death toll reached 18,956.

Provinces that contributed the highest number of new infections are Jakarta with 1,506 cases and 17 deaths, followed by Central Java with 979 confirmed cases and 16 deaths.

East Java, West Java, and South Sulawesi were the next with 713, 600, and 295 cases respectively. The number of deaths in the three regions was 41, 15, and 3. The data showed that East Java recorded the highest number of deaths.

Meanwhile, 5,121 more patients recovered. In total, the number of recoveries hit 510,957.

Today, Indonesia has 93,396 active cases, and the government is also still monitoring 64,067 suspected cases. 

The number of specimens that have been examined today as of 12: 00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) reached 42,006 from 29,376 people. However, 232 laboratories had not yet reported the PCR results.
