IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin supports the government’s decision to cut short the collective leave days in 2021 from seven to two days in an effort to curb transmission of coronavirus that caused Covid-19.
“The people’s mobility is always high during long holidays because they wish to go on vacation to tourist destinations which lead to the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases,” Azis said in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 23.
He argued that the policy must be implemented, particularly in regions, as a form of joint commitment in containing the pandemic. So he asked the central and regional governments to instruct companies or industries to abide by the policy.
“I ask the government to urge companies or industries to follow the policy by not allowing joint leave for their employees so that the commitment of all parties will be effective to suppress the number of cases,” he said.
Previously reported, the government agreed to cut short the collective leave days schedule from seven to two days in an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 caused by the people’s mobility on holidays.
