67,000 People Flock Soekarno-Hatta Airport after Long Weekend Holiday

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Transportation Ministry ensured that Soekarno-Hatta Airport applied strict health protocol against Covid-19 during the return peak of the long weekend holiday from October 28 to November 1, 2020. The airport was predicted to accommodate 67,000 people.

Minister Budi Karya Sumadi inspected the airport’s operation. Upon his arrival at 2: 30 p.m. on Sunday, he monitored the validation process of health documents or results of the rapid test or PCR test carried out by the Port Health Office of the Health Ministry.

“I’m making sure that airport services are running well. I appreciate AP II, airlines, KKP, AirNav Indonesia, airport authority, and particularly the military and police who are fully alert 24 hours,” said Budi in a press release quoted on Monday, November 2, 2020.

The minister also checked the international arrivals, including the PCR Test shelter for passengers under the Indonesia-Singapore Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA) scheme and the Mobile Real-Time PCR Diagnosis vehicle in Terminal 3.

Budi also distributed free masks to passengers, ground handling staff, and airport staff.

On the same occasion, state-owned airport operator AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said around 67,000 passengers were predicted to flock Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Sunday.

“It is the highest number of passengers in the midst of this pandemic. Meanwhile, we estimate the aircraft movements will reach 700 flights,” Awaluddin said.
