Jokowi signals 2 provinces with sharp spike in COVID-19 cases

Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has informed the provinces of Central Java and Jakarta that tape-recorded a sharp increase in the variety of COVID-19 cases within the previous few days.

” I reminded that we have 2 provinces which I believe would require unique attention owing to the extreme boost (in the variety of COVID-19 cases) this week, in the previous two to three days, particularly in Central Java and Jakarta,” Jokowi stated at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

The president made the statement at a restricted conference on the report of COVID-19 handling and the nationwide financial recovery committee, with attendees making up cabinet ministers.

Jokowi has instructed Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian to advise regional leaders of their commitment to make sure public security and protection.

” We have to assess this regarding why the increase could be that sharp. Be cautious. According to the data I got on November 29, there was a 13.41- percent increase in the number of our active cases. It is still listed below the worldwide average of active cases, we have to be cautious because it increased as compared to the earlier weekly average,” the head of state noted.

The variety of active cases of COVID-19 recently was recorded at 12.78 percent on an average.

Jakarta registered the highest rate of favorable cases, with 135,762 confirmed cases, after it taped 1,431 additional cases since Sunday (Nov 29). East Java recorded 61,483 favorable cases, followed by 54,997 cases in Central Java, 51,776 in West Java, and 20,552 cases in South Sulawesi.

The variety of additional verified cases in Central Java Province reached 2,036 on Sunday.
